SHERMAN, Texas -- No sex. That's part of a sentence imposed on a 17-old-girl by Texas state district judge Lauri Blake.
She's ordered the young drug offender not have sex as long as she is living with her parents and attending school, as a condition of her probation.

She has also prohibited tattoos, body piercings, earrings and clothing 'associated with the drug culture' for those on probation.

Former federal prosecutor Fred Moss said some conditions could be viewed as violating someone's personal dignity.

Mixed feelings on this. I can relate to the fact that taking away the dress and activities associated with drugs can do a lot to change a kid's behavior. But, then it also smacks of the type of stuff done by judges who relish the attention of the newspapers. I'd say if the parents are in agreement with the judge, it sounds OK to me.
One final note, I guess this does touch on the rather sensitivie, but not talked about fact that in most states kids under 18 or 21 have no legal right to sex.

Obviously the judge is showboating, but this does bring up the interesting point that the court is acting as a parent for parents who have lost control of their child.

I myself am tickled by the idea that body piercings and tats are expressions of personal dignity, at least in Texas.
